reading update

Lately, I've been reading a bunch of different books, so I hadn't finished anything for awhile. Yesterday I read in its 76-page-entirely Edith Wharton's Ethan Frome. There are good things that come out of sitting bored at the reference desk. For some reason I got the feeling that I'd read it before, though maybe I was famaliar enough with Wharton's style to be reminded of her other works that I've read.

Today I finished the book that I had previously been reading only on Sundays at work, The Adventure of English: the Biography of a Language by Melvyn Bragg. It was a really good read, following the English language from its beginnings and near extinction to the present.

I think that makes books 6 and 7 for the year.
