Woo! Congrats, Mary! :D Aren't those ultrasound pictures great??
Nov. 29th, 2007 02:28 am (UTC)
CUTE!!! Congratulations :)

Happy for you.

Ultrasounds are weird. It is the only time it is acceptable to point an arrow to a penis and say "how cute!"

Re: Happy for you.
The tech said she would try to get another picture of the same thing later, but I'm glad she forgot! I agree, weird.

Yay! Congrats! Do you have a name picked out?
Nov. 29th, 2007 01:53 pm (UTC)
We only have names we DON'T like picked out, which is only a little helpful. :)

With two very active nephews, I am a uber fan of baby boys! Congratulations! Devin and I want you and John to know that we will make ourselves available in PA once the baby is born. If you need anything let us know (even if it is watching the baby while you take a nap)!

Thank you, Beth! That means a lot to me!

I have no idea how people read these. I can only ever figure out the head.

The hands and feet are easy, too, once you get the hang of it. Sometimes I'd think I'd be looking at the head, but the tech was actually looking at some organ or another. D'oh!

The above is a bottoms-up shot, which is what you need to look for boy parts or girl parts.

Boys have penises, which tend to look like turtles sticking their heads out, like above. That's a very obvious boy pic above.

Girls don't have obvious parts sticking out, so you need to look for three lines together, sort of like a hamburger.

(An absence of boy parts means nothing-- he could just be hiding his parts from view-- so you need to look for the hamburger lines to prove it's a girl.

http://pregnancy.about.com/cs/boyorgirl/l/blgenders.htm has some examples and then below that has a link to a quiz. It's fun!

I've never understood how to read those things either. Still, how exciting!
